High-quality felt oil seal material, commonly used on stationary engines, vintage engines and machinery to form oil-retaining seals around shafts and plain bearings.
Felt was widely used around plain white-metal bush bearings and similar applications, where the material is fitted into a housing or carrier and compressed slightly around the shaft to help retain lubricant and reduce oil leakage.
The material is easily cut and shaped, making it particularly useful when restoring older machinery where original pre-formed seals are no longer available.
