A good quality oil seal designed for the 2" diameter crankshaft of the CS engine but could be used on anything else with the same shaft size. Outside diameter of 3" and a depth of 1/2"
Good quality low noise packing tape, ideal for sealing of boxes etc. This is not the cheap thin rubbish that snaps easily but a good quality trade tape at a sensible price.
Three sizes to suit almost any application. The most cost effective long term solution to oil purification.
SE-20, 200 litres per hour, measures 4" diameter by 6" tall and is ideally suited for sump oil cleansing and small scale veg oil polishing.
SE-50, 375 litres per hour, measures 5.4" diameter by 9.8" tall and is the best solution for home processors of veg oil. The contaminant chamber is small enough to be cost effective but also large enough to hold a lot of dirt without having to be cleaned out too frequently.
SE-200, 1050 litres per hour, measures 9" diameter by 13.5 " tall and is a real beast for the serious veg oil enthusiasts!!
All the above centrifuges have been designed to be dual purpose units suitable for both sump oil cleansing as well as veg oil polishing. All are capable of removing water and filtering down to less than one micron. When used for the cleaning of engine lubricating oil you can dramatically extend service intervals due to the extended life of your lubricating oil.
Alternatively if you intend to polish vegetable oil to be used in the production of Bio Diesel these centrifuges make excellent final stage polishing systems to ensure you have the cleanest of oil.
If you intend to use this unit as a fuel polisher, best results are achieved when the viscosity of the vegetable oil is less than or as close to that of engine oil at normal engine operating temperature.
The SE-20 centrifuge can hold a maximum of 200 cc of contaminants, if more than approx 60 cc of this is in liquid form it will drain out when the unit is stopped. The simple solution to this is to hold a tub of some sort under the unit just before you switch off your pump.
All our centrifuges come supplied with a high quality punched gasket. The optional mounting bracket for both the SE-20 and the SE-50 which can be seen in the picture is ideally suited for holding the centrifuge firmly in place and has a flange mounting with two 12.5mm holes the SE-20 bracket has a 1” BSP female thread for attaching a gravity drain return pipe and the SE-50 bracket has a 1,1/4 BSP female thread. The mounting bracket is not essential for the operation of the centrifuge, however the centrifuge must be firmly held in place and the mounting bracket is the easiest and most cost effective way to achieve this.
We can also supply a pre-assembled pipework kit which consists of a pressure guage, safety release valve, the difficult to find M12 x 1.5 to 1/4BSP adapter and all the fittings required to be able to connect your pipework up easily.
Alternativly if you wish to make your own pipe work assembly you may wish to purchase just the M12 x 1.5 to 1/4 BSP adaper as these can be quite hard to find.
For performance curves and installation dimensions please see the graphic below.
One of the most important factors to getting good results from our range of SE centrifuges is the flow rate. The SE-20 centrifuge can handle up to a maximum of 3.5 Litres per minute or roughly 1 gallon per minute with a pressure range of 35-90PSI. However we suggest you use a pump that will give you an output in the range of 50-80PSI at 3.5 LPM for the best results to be achieved.
We have sourced within the UK a range of CE approved, fully tested, heavy duty self contained electric pumps pictured below. These pumps are ideally suited for running a centrifuge, we appreciate they are not cheap but insist on only selling a pump with viton seals throughout which are up to the job of dealing with vegetable oil! Prices can be seen by clicking on the info button at the top of this page.
We do not currently supply a pipe to connect the two together as this is a simple job that most will want to do themselves because of the varying lengths required depending on your own individual needs however, if you inform us of the length required we will happily return you a quotation upon request.
The second most important factor is the viscosity of your oil, the thinner the oil is the better the results you will achieve, so warming the oil to aid thinning will help to increase performance and gain more pleasing results.
An unsuited pump with a higher flow rate and less pressure can also make things harder. Too high a flow rate will require a bypass or the excess flow rate that is not used by the centrifuge could cause the pump to over heat.
At a pressure of 90 PSI and above the rotor is spinning at more than 8000 rpm which naturally causes the rotor to produce noise and vibrations. There is no harm caused by the noise although common sense indicates at this point a slightly lower pressure would be more desirable. Some points which should be regularly checked are as follows:-
1) The rotor cover and rotor are correctly matched in assembly with the engraved arrows matching correctly.
2) Always ensure that both the jets are clean and are able to pass your oil freely. A good method for checking this is to stop the unit for a short time and once you know the rotor has stopped, remove the centrifuge cover and look for oil continuing to drain from both of the jets if this is the case both the jets should be clear.

After a few prototypes and experimenting we now have a Gib key puller in stock and available to purchase. These pullers are made exclusively for us at SEP and are suitable for both spoked flywheels and solid Start-o-matic types.
We have upgraded the MkII puller from 10mm steel plate to 12mm to enable you to put some serious removal pressure on that key via the three large jacking bolts. We have also added two grub screws to help prevent the puller trying to ride over the head of the key.
Were not promising this is the answer to all your stuck key problems but it should certainly give you a fighting chance.
Please note that if you do not have a minimum of 12mm between the head of your key and the hub face of your flywheel the puller will not be suitable for the first stages of removal but can be used once a 12mm clearance is present.
Use of the puller is very simple, as follows:-
Before attempting the removal of a Gib key we recommend you give the key a thorough soaking with a good quality penetrating oil, the longer you can let the oil work the better. Ten minutes prior to removal is just not long enough, we have had feedback of keys taking as much as two weeks to remove with great patience and daily oil application.
The inner head face of the key should be clean and at least 90' to the crankshaft, if your keys are like most of the ones I have seen this will not be the case and it may well be necessary to file the head of the key to provide a clean flat face and good angle for maximum load distribution.
Once you have oiled your key for a good while place the puller over the head of the key with the three 12mm bolt heads facing you (as shown in the picture)
Then rotate the puller slightly to the left (clockwise) so that the key head is no longer aligned with the cut out notch but is immediately under the nearest 12mm bolt as per the picture below.
This is the position your puller should be in when jacking all keys. We now recommend you place a small piece of shim steel between the crankshaft face and the two grub screws to prevent damage to the shaft. Screw in the grub screws until light pressure is felt on the screws. The grub screws are there purely to help prevent the puller from trying to ride over the key head when under strain.
You are now ready to apply pressure to the key head by winding in the three large bolts. You may wish to place some packing steel between the three bolt ends and the hub of the flywheel to prevent marking, especially if you have nice paint like mine in the picture. It is essential to keep the puller parallel to the flywheel at all times thereby applying an even pressure to the key. An angled puller will only apply uneven pressure to the key and increase the risk of shearing off the head, then you really do have problems.
Lastly and most importantly, be patient. I know this is the bit we all find very hard but it really does pay off in the long run. If your key does not show signs of moving with a good pressure applied staight away don't worry. Keep the pressure applied and add penetrating oil daily until the key gives out. We do not recommend you heat the hub of the flywheel for obvious safety reasons.
