Lister’s The First Hundred Years

After being unavailable for more than a decade a few copies have come to light.

First published in 1979 and now long out of print, this hardback is the 1995 reprint. Through 250 pages it plots the history of the firm from its humble beginnings in 1867, commencing in a disused water mill, through to becoming one of the best known stationary engine manufacturers in this country.

The fascinating story travels through two world wars, plus the trials and tribulations endured through times of hardship and recession. Engine manufacture is well documented, commencing in 1909 continuing through until just prior to the Lister-Petter merger in 1986. Diverse subjects are covered, from family history to overseas agents.
