3.6Kw Permanant Magnet Generator (PMG)

3.6Kw Permanant Magnet Generator (PMG)
Product Information

Permanent magnet generators offer high output from small size!

A new generator based on permanent magnet technology. Compared to a traditional brushed alternator, the new PMG's offer high output relative to the frame size making for instance a 3.6 KW unit a full frame size smaller.

Potentially higher efficiency to assure that your ever higher fuel costs are the lowest possible for each kilowatt hour of energy produced.
3.6KW continuous output depending on the model selected with 115, 115/230, or 230 Volt AC 50hz.

The new generator can be operated in a wide speed range with a maximum output of either 3.6 KW with high efficiancy. The design is based on low speed permanent magnet generator technology. This has now been further developed with a more robust rotor suitable for higher speeds.

The permanent magnet generator is a synchronous machine where the rotor windings have been replaced with permanent magnets. This eliminates the excitation losses in the rotor, which otherwise typically represent 20 to 30 percent of the total generator losses. The reduced losses also give a lower temperature rise in the generator, which means that a smaller and simpler cooling system can be used. The temperature reduction in the rotor also reduces the temperature in the bearings, improving reliability by increasing the lifetime of the bearings and the bearing grease.

The high efficiency of permanent magnet generators mean better utilisation of the input energy from the prime mover, producing more electrical output power. The reduction in size and weight also makes the construction of any generator set easier as less room and smaller lifting equipment is required.

Recent developments in permanent magnet generator technology have been made possible by a significant improvement of the magnetic materials during the past decade. A piece of neodymium boron iron (NeFeB) material can have a magnetic force more than 10 times stronger than a traditional ferrite magnet. Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Alternators have tremendous starting capabilities usually 1.5 to 2 times the rated KW which can be maintained for short periods of time, such as for motor starting etc.

*Following voltage harmonization, electricity supplies within the European Union are now nominally 230V ± 10% at 50Hz. For a transition period (1995–2008), countries that had previously used 220V changed to a narrower asymmetric tolerance range of 230V +6% -10% and those (like the UK) that had previously used 240V changed to 230V +10% -6%. Note that no change in voltage is required by either system as both 220V and 240V fall within the lower 230V tolerance bands (230 V ±6%). In practice, this allows countries to continue to supply the same voltage (220 or 240V), at least until existing generating plants are replaced. Equipment used in these countries is designed to accept any voltage within the specified range.
